We always recommend starting with the a tanning oil spray and SPF, the spray is more light weight than the cream. A tan lasts longest when it is built up slowly and naturally, cooking all day in the sun is not recommended!
Yes! We always recommend using the brown coconut carrot oil when wearing white as the solution is clear. If you wash out the product straight away, generally you can get it out – but we always recommend the clear coconut to be safe!
Less is more, building a tan slowly is the best way to keep your colour and avoid getting burnt. If you know you’ll be in the sun all day, try avoid peak heat. We ABSOLUTELY recommend SPF first, and topping up your SPF throughout the day.
Absolutely! We often hear customers start with the spray and once they have developed a little bit of colour move on to the cream which is a thicker consistency and therefore stronger. Or in reverse, those already naturally dark, might start with the cream and top up lightly with the spray.

Remember: Tanning, or the production of melanin in your skin cells, continues for a few hours after you have been in the sun on a sunbed. So, you don’t need to sit in the sun until you see a colour develop for you to know that you have gotten a tan. Your cells have already been stimulated to start the tanning process, and by giving your skin a rest after exposure, it will benefit tremendously in getting you the tan you’re after. By evening, you will be browner than you were during your tanning session.
Not only is it essential to keep your skin moisturised after tanning, but also while you are tanning. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated! And use a hydrating product on your skin to create the safest and most even tan. Be sure to use sun protection with SPF underneath your Carrot Sun tanning product of choice to protect your skin!
Everyone reacts differently to the sun, but here are some guidelines to get you started:
If tanning in the sun, start with only 15-20 minutes in the sun on your first session. In your following tanning sessions only increase your time by 5-10 minute increments, and monitor your skin regularly to make sure you aren’t starting to go red and burn.”
If you want to maintain a deep tan you need to keep it topped up. Regular tanning sessions will help maintain that hard-earned tan.
